Game publisher Electronic Arts, conceivably best known for its Madden NFL franchise and appeals to "hardcore" gamers, is doing an about face in its marketing: For 2009, the company will be more and more looking to women and the Wii as its target customers. The plan: More women-friendly titles like a rival to the bestselling Wii Fit, advertising on women-geared TV outlets like the Oxygen Channel, and endorsements from Oprah Winfrey's personal trainer.
The Wii has been crushing both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in sales. And EA's noticing: "When you look at the impact that the Wii platform is having on our business, we better be relevant” company execs told Bloomberg. EA's not the only game publisher paying close attention to the console wars, and allocating resources towards systems with the largest userbases. EA's Wii-focused push follows Bethesda Softworks pulling back development of their top-rated "Fallout 3" from the third-place PS3.

The reason why we still look forward to Nintendo, and PS3 stays costly above some versions of the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii is because of the components and technology used in the PS3, which makes it more expensive to build. It's hard for Sony to cut the price of its console when the system is already being sold at a major loss. When the PS3 first launched in 2006, iSuppli tore the system down and found that it cost Sony about $840 to build the version of the PS3 selling for $599 at the time, accounting for a loss of around $240 per PS3 sold.
Sony is probable to make the money up on the backend with game and accessory sales. The basic PS3 console, which sold for $499 in 2006, cost Sony only slightly less to build at $805 according to iSuppli. After two years of availability, iSuppli has again achieved a teardown of the PS3 and found that Sony is still losing money on the console.

Nintendo's biggest challenge to further market expansion is the remaining "consumer indifferent to games," says Nintendo Korea's chief executive -- who doesn't consider Microsoft and Sony to be direct rivals. The company is very confident for its sales but also accepting that there is lack of Wii finder to get correct information. Nintendo has claimed that the recent launch of Wii Fit has apparently been performing relatively well in South Korea, which is not historically a console-rich market. Nintendo DS sales are also continuing to rise, passing the two million mark in 2008."Sales of our products do not depend on whether the economy is good or not, but whether we introduce fun products or not. I realized this through my experience in the video game industry," it is said by Reggie.

Presenting Obama 01/19/2009

It’s definitely not a puppy, but the Obamas did get a trendy gift during the holidays. And judging by this photo from Joystiq, you can probably guess what it is. It’s a Wii.
According to the New York Times, the upcoming first family got the Wii as a Christmas gift for their daughters Sasha and Malia. Man, Nintendo sure does have a monopoly on presidents. A couple of years ago, the company sent a Nintendo DS with Brain Age to Presdient George W. Bush. It’s still unclear whether you he played the game. But if I’m a betting man, I would lean toward “hasn’t played it.”

Changing Times 01/19/2009

There was a time when playing a video game meant sitting still with your eyes transfixed on the television screen and the worst damage you could do was possibly a sore thumb, but that was before Nintendo's Wii. The Wii, which continues to become more and more popular each year, involves getting up off the couch and exercising those muscles.
Elise Bacolas was so excited to get a Wii for Christmas she played the boxing game nonstop for hours. "I was playing eight games in a row and I was punching so hard that I threw my shoulder out," she says. For the next two weeks, she couldn't move her arm without flinching and went to an orthopedic surgeon. "I went to Dr. Neil Roth and he told me that I had overextended my shoulder and that I had inflammation in that area," Bascolas explains. "I should stop all physical activity in the arm at this point and start physical therapy that too is embarrassing."

Nintendo will launch an online on-demand television channel through the Wii. The service will be known as Wiinoma and will have programmes supported by advertisements which would be broadcast all over Japan’s online console audience. Later on, these titles would be viewed on a pay basis.

The service will be generated by Japan’s biggest advertising agency, Dentsu. Wiinoma will have family oriented programmes with cartoons, cookery shows and educational programmes along with Quizzes. The service is supposed to start this spring in Japan. One of the senior executives of Fuji Television, Japan’s biggest commercial broadcaster commented that the success of Wiinoma could be a threat to the television producers.

Gamers went mad when Nintendo Wii was first launched in 2006. Everybody wanted to use the latest games console from the Japanese company. Nintendo also wanted a console for the whole family to play together and it wanted to go down the same route as Xbox 360.

When Sony released its PS3, people thought that it would affect the sales of Wii, but this was not the case. People who were interested in serious hard core gaming still wanted to keep with Wii. The game console rivals were even more beaten when Wii Fit was introduced. However, according to SlpapStic.com, Nintendo will lose many of its users to Xbox 360 and Sony’s PS3 and that 2009 will not be a good year for Nintendo.

A Wii finder tracks store inventory from all the major stores and keeps you updated with it. You can find exactly where you can get the Wii Fit in stock. Moreover recently when Circuit Coty sold out on there first week pf the year for just $9.99 it was almost everywhere on Wii finder. Wii are hard to find so when you see one in stock in any store through a Wii finder it is good to grab it rather wait for more and lose it. It is not bad to check eBay auction which happens frequently. You might get your Wii at a lesser price.

However it was difficult to find Wii during Christmas, be it any Wii finder or tracker. The situation has always been the same every Christmas for the last two years. However this year Reggie Fils-Aime promised that we will have Wii in sufficient stock but checking any Wii Finder we saw most major stores running out of stock. Reggie kept its promise for sometime by providing sufficient stock for shopping but that too did not last for long.

Wii is being used by almost all sectors for different purpose. Be it at home so that families join together, or the hospitals or hotels. Wii is everywhere in use, maybe in different ways but people still want it. The more Wii is in use the more is the demand but looks like Wii finders are less to handle.
